Over 90 women attended the WELCA High Tea held on April 20th with some even adorning beautiful hats! SMLC Fellowship Hall was overflowing with conversation and laughter and catching up. The women attending were treated to a wide variety of finger sandwiches and delectable desserts and, of course, 3 varieties of tea. The youth kindly served the ladies their tea. Such a treat!

Besides SMLC members, other ELCA churches located in Kenosha County were also represented. In attendance was a special group of women that had worshipped at the original SMLC location on 22nd Avenue. They were joined by a wide intergenerational group of lovely ladies.

The event was put on by members of WELCA and the Reconnections Committee including Anne Winkle, Christine Johnson and Hollie DeFranco. They were assisted by a number of individuals that are too many to list.  A big “Thank You” goes out to all those that helped make this event such a great success.

There was a contest held between tables to see which table could collect the most money for the youth of SMLC for their trip to the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer.

This celebration was held to honor the 125th anniversary of the WELCA ministry and to honor SMLC on its 150th anniversary. There will be updates in the June Spirit on the proceeds from the High Tea as more information is gathered
